The cottage
Rose Cottage is a detached 17th century Manx stone cottage situated at South Cape, Laxey, less than 5 minutes walk down steps to the beach and harbour, and only a few yards from the South Cape Manx Electric Railway stop. It has been carefully modernised to give 21st century comfort while still retaining its 17th century character.
The cottage was originally two separate stone cottages, now converted into one large holiday unit.
There is off-road parking for one car, and on-road parking for a second one, on either side of the porch. In addition, there is space at the side of the house for a small car or a number of motorcycles.

South Cape, Laxey
Laxey is situated on the Island's East coast between Douglas and Ramsey. With its beach with large areas of exposed sand at low tide, its friendly shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, its coastal and mountain walks for the energetic, and its transport (including the Snaefell Mountain Railway), it makes an ideal base for an enjoyable holiday in the Isle of Man. Make sure you visit the Lady Isabella, the largest working water wheel in the world. The photo on the left shows the location of the cottage, outlined in red.
Ground Floor
The ground floor contains an entrance porch leading into two luxuriously carpeted lounges, 20ft by 12ft and 15ft by 12ft, the kitchen and a utility room.
The main larger lounge contains the dining area and TV area. The TV is a satellite system receiving Freesat. For more views of this and the rest of the cottage visit Gallery
The second lounge/games room contains a small pool/snooker table, a piano and seating area.
The modern kitchen contains an electric hob and fan oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, toaster, kettle and large worktops. Cutlery and crockery are provided for six people.
The utility room contains general cleaning materials, a high chair, an ironing board. a freezer, washing machine and separate tumble dryer.
Note that being very old, some ground floor parts of the cottage have limited headroom. The clearance to the beams in the kitchen and the utility room is less than 6 ft in places and the height of the back door and the door between the main lounge and the kitchen is less still.
First Floor
The first floor has been the subject of a recent extensive upgrade. It is fully carpeted throughout, and contains a large master double bedroom, a second smaller double bedroom, a single bedroom, a fourth bedroom containing a single bed that we can not promote for use as it contains the central heating boiler, and a bathroom and toilet, the bath having a built-in shower.
Duvets, bed linen and clean towels are provided.
The bathroom contains a W.C., wash basin and a bath with built-in shower.
Unlimited supplies of hot water are available from a gas fired boiler. This also powers the central heating, and there are individually controllable radiators in all rooms.
Garden
We have a large garden and it is mainly laid to grass, with a patio area and garden furniture partially overlooking Laxey bay.
